Tiivistelmä: Abstract: | Syvä geoterminen energiapotentiaali kuvaa Suomen kallioperään sitoutuneen lämpöenergian teoreettista määrää siitä syvyydestä lähtien, jossa kallioperässä saavutetaan 70 °C lämpötila aina kymmenen kilometrin syvyyteen saakka. Kallioperässä olevan teoreettisen lämpöenergian määrä on näin ollen laskettu kuudelle eri syvyysvälille: 4-5 km, 5-6 km, 6-7 km, 7-8 km, 8-9 km ja 9-10 km.
Arvioitaessa Suomen kallioperän teoreettista syvän geotermisen energian potentiaalia, on laskennassa hyödynnetty seuraavia digitaalisia aineistoja:
- Ilmatieteen laitoksen ilman vuotuinen keskilämpötila vertailukaudella 1931-1960 (Aalto et al. 2016)
- GTK:n Suomen kallioperäkartta (Kallioperä 1:1 000 000)
- GTK:n Suomen kalliogeokemian tietokanta (Rasilainen et al., 2007, Rasilainen et al., 2008)
Kartat on tuotettu yleistarkasteluun mittakaavassa 1:1 000 000. Ne eivät sovellu suurimittakaavaiseen (yli 1:500 000) tarkasteluun. Karttojen solukoko on yksi neliökilometri.
/ The Deep Geothermal Energy Potential dataset describes the theoretical amount of thermal energy stored in the uppermost 10 000 meters of the Finnish bedrock. The thermal energy amount was calculated for the six depth intervals up to 10 000 meters within which the average temperature is 70 degrees Celsius or higher: 4-5 km, 5-6 km, 6-7 km, 7-8 km, 8-9 km, and 9-10 km. The deep geothermal energy potential was estimated utilizing following digital datasets: - The mean annual air temperature map of Finland for the normal period 1931-1960 by the Finnish Meteorological Institute (Aalto et al., 2016) - The lithological map of Finland 1:1 000 000 by GTK (Bedrock of Finland 1:1 000 000) - The rock geochemical database of Finland by GTK (Rasilainen et al., 2007; Rasilainen et al., 2008) - The bedrock density map of Finland by Pirttijärvi et al. (2013) The Deep Geothermal Energy Potential dataset comprises six raster datasets that provide theoretical estimates of the amount of geothermal energy stored in the Finnish bedrock. The maps display the spatial variation of deep geothermal energy potential in terawatt hours at different depth intervals. In addition, a map illustrating the depth where the bedrock reaches one hundred degrees Celsius was produced. The maps are intended to provide further information concerning the availability of deep geothermal energy to facilitate the national climate and energy strategy of the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (TEM) and the climate and energy policy of the European Union (EU). The maps were produced to provide a general overview of the deep geothermal energy potential at the scale of 1:1 000 000. They are not suitable for large scale investigations (scales larger than 1:500 000). The cell size of the raster maps is 1 km x 1 km. |
Syvä geoterminen energiapotentiaali -aineisto on pieneen mittakaavaan (1:1 000 000) tuotettua tietoa. Aineiston solukoko on yksi neliökilometri.
/ The Deep Geothermal Energy Potential dataset and the produced maps provide information concerning the potential of deep geothermal energy exploitation in Finland. They support the national climate and energy strategy of TEM, and the climate and energy policy of EU. The purpose of the dataset is to support the national energy policy and regional planning, and to promote the sustainable utilization of deep geothermal energy for space heating of larger properties. The Deep Geothermal Energy Potential dataset was produced at a small scale (1:1 000 000). The cell size of the dataset is one square kilometer. The dataset is not suitable for site-specific examination and dimensioning at the level of individual properties and should not be viewed at scales larger than 1:500 000. |
Karttojen solukoko on 1 km x 1 km (1 km2).

The theoretical amount of thermal energy was calculated for the six depth intervals where the average temperature reaches 70 degrees Celsius: 4-5 km, 5-6 km, 6-7 km, 7-8 km, 8-9 km, and 9-10 km. The dataset is not suitable for inspection at scales larger than 1:500 000. The depth extents of the lithological units include uncertainties and there is no information available describing the depth extents up to the depth of 10 km. Only the reflection seismic FIRE and HIRE lines have been interpreted geologically. Unfortunately, these lines cover only a small part of Finland despite their substantial total length. Under these circumstances, the lithological units were assumed to be homogenous up to ten kilometers except for two geological formations: the Muhos formation (silicate-siltstone) in Oulu area and the Satakunta formation (silicate-sandstone) in Satakunta region. These two formations were taken into account as a two-layer model in the calculations since their approximate depth and extent were known. The bedrock which underlay these formations was assumed to correspond the bedrock surrounding sedimentary formation in question. |
