Pohjois-Suomen topografikarttojen kattamilla alueilla tehtiin yleisselvitys. 1990-luvulta alkaen arviointeja on tarkennettu mm. alueellisten pohjavesien suojelun ja kiviaineshuollon yhteensovittamishankkeiden (POSKI) yhteydessä. Muodostumakohtaiset sora- ja hiekkavaratiedot tallennetaan maa-ainestietokantaan. Esiintymän minimipinta-ala on 2 ha ja pohjavedenpinnan yläpuolella olevan kerroksen minimipaksuus on 1,5 metriä. Muodostuman ainesmäärä on siis vähintään 30 000 m3. Sorateiden kunnossapitoon soveltuvan murskauskelpoisen moreenin inventointia tehtiin 1980-luvulla. Maa-aineskartoituksen aineistolle on tehty koordinaatistomuunnos lokakuussa 2013. Muunnos kartastokoordinaattijärjestelmän yhtenäiskoordinaatistosta ETRS-TM35FIN -koordinaatistoon on tehty kolmioittaista affiinista muunnosta käyttäen. / Aggregate investigations concentrate on sand, gravel and, for the lesser part, on till. The most significant sand and gravel deposits are found in glacifluvial river formations: eskers, deltas, sandurs and sorted terminal moraines, and river and shore sediments. Some parts of hummocky moraine areas are also sorted. In the context of soil assessment, a ‘deposit’ means a sand or gravel formation. The surveyed parts of a deposit are usually those above the water table. If there is enough survey/drilling data, the sand and gravel resources under the water table can also be assessed. GTK started a nationwide assessment of gravel and sand resources in Finland in the 1970s. The assessment was based mostly on the interpretation of maps, cuts to soil and other observations in the field. In areas inaccessible by road, the survey was based on interpretations of aerial photographs; in places, field observations were made by helicopter. In Northern Finland, a general survey was made for areas covered by topographic maps. Since the 1990s, the assessments have been made more detailed in projects associated with the POSKI project that seeks to combine regional groundwater protection and the availability of crushed rock aggregate. The formation-specific information on gravel and sand resources are stored into the soil database. The minimum surface area for a deposit is 2 hectares, and the minimum height above the water table is 1.5 metres. Thus, the volume is at least 30 000 m3. The reserves of crushable till suitable for the maintenance of gravel roads were inventoried in the 1980s. The projects were based on co-operation agreements between GTK and local road and waterway construction organisations. The soil database contains certain moraine delineations, but without quality or quantity assessments. The surveying, inventorying and maintenance of information on soil reserves supports the following goals: 1) ensuring the availability of soils, 2) sustainable use of soil reserves, 3) taking environmental values into account, 4) minimising the environmental impact and 5) improving the planning of land use. The soil product consists of separate planes for the formation above groundwater table and the fraction (maa_aines_pv_ylapuoli and maa_aines_lajite_pv_ylapuoli). Maa_aines_pv_ylapuoli is a regional plane that contains information on the formation type, the bottom level of the formation and the volume above the groundwater table. At its simplest, the volume calculated down to the level of water table, in which case the ground water is marked as the bottom level. If, for example, the surface of the bedrock rises above the water table, the volume at that location is calculated down to the bedrock surface, and the bedrock is marked as the second bottom level. If the water table under the formation is lower than another bottom level (such as till and bedrock), the water table is not marked as the bottom level, and the quantity is calculated down to the surface of the till and rock. Maa_aines_lajite_pv_ylapuoli is a regional plane that contains data about the soil fraction above the water table. A coordinate system conversion was performed for the soil survey material in October 2013. The conversion for the common map coordinate system to the ETRS-TM35FIN coordinate system was performed using an affine transformation of triangles. |
Käyttötarkoitus: Purpose: | Maa-aines antaa tietoja hiekka- ja soraesiintymien sijainnista ja ainesmääristä ja niiden riittävyydestä yhdyskuntarakentamisen tarpeisiin. Aineiston käyttömittakaava on 1:20 000-1:50 000. / The soil data contains information on the location and volume of sand and gravel deposits and their ability to meet the needs of municipal engineering. The scale of the data is 1:20 000-1:50 000. |
Without additional investigations, the accuracy of the soil survey is insufficient for the creation of a plan required by a farm-specific permit to collect soils. Due to delays in updates, the data on the collection areas and volume information is outdated in places. |
